John Calvin Playschool is a preschool for children between the ages of 12 months and 5 years. Our preschool started in 1970, and today it continues its tradition as a leader in early childhood education in the greater New Orleans area. Our spacious campus and developmentally appropriate curriculum and environment, nurtures and develops young children’s social, creative, and academic confidence.
Our director is Lauren Crisler and she is blessed with a wonderful staff of teachers that pride themselves on treating their students as they would their own children. There is no other way to describe John Calvin Playschool except to say it is a truly unique early childhood center proudly facilitating the connection between children learning and playing at the same time.
The following classes are offered: 1’s (TTH, MWF, or M-F), 2’s (TTH, MWF or M-F), 3’s (MWF or M-F), PK 4, and Transitional Kindergarten (5’s-TK). There are half day and full day programs available with optional before care offered.
We believe early childhood is a magical time in the lives of our little ones and should be embraced. Our school thrives on children learning best through play involving hands-on activities, sharpening their socialization skills, and age-appropriate educational lessons. When learning is active, fun, and interesting, children enjoy doing it and will participate for longer periods of time. Our students love our use of the Zoo-Phonics program for learning letters and their sounds.
John Calvin Playschool strives to create a strong connection between families at our school and we offer many fun activities that involve the entire family such as Family Fun Night, Trunk or Treat, a spring art and fun fest, Easter family picnics, and more. Giving children a positive first school experience sets the stage for future school success.
