McDonogh 35 is steeped in history as the first public African-American high school in the city of New Orleans.. It joined the InspireNOLA network in the 2019-20 school year, and its students and staff aim to strive for excellence with the reminder it’s “A Choice; Not an Echo.” The mission of McDonogh 35 Senior High School is to encourage academic excellence for all students in challenging and interactive programs that are supported by teachers, staff, parents, and the community. Besides excellence in the classroom, the school is also known for its stellar music program including its marching band and choir.
