Founded in 1727, Ursuline Academy is an all-girls Catholic school offering a diverse educational environment from six weeks through 12th grade.

As girls progress through the Academy, a highly interactive approach exposes them to increasingly complex concepts in STEM and the arts that go beyond learning the material. Ursuline girls learn to think creatively, articulate their ideas confidently and compassionately, and solve problems collaboratively.

The tradition of an Ursuline education in New Orleans has, at its core, the values of courtesy, loyalty, courage and Serviam (“I will serve”). Ursuline Academy connects with young women during critical moments in their development.

Ursuline’s service programs provide enriching opportunities to expand the student’s understanding of herself, her community and the world. No matter her passion, our girls find many ways to use their gifts to stand for human dignity, promote justice, and share love for our neighbors through community service.

A comprehensive and diverse academic curriculum provides every Ursuline student with the opportunity to develop her unique skills and talents. Smaller class sizes at every level guarantee a personal connection with faculty and fellow students. Girls leave Ursuline ready for the academic challenges that college will present and then some, having developed resilience, self-awareness and a curiosity and passion for learning that will stay with them for life.

The rigorous academic coursework incorporates honors, accelerated and Advanced Placement offerings for students. Specialty programs, such as entrepreneurship, allow students to learn from professional mentors while engaging in coursework relevant to real life. The fine arts program at Ursuline includes theater, drama, choral music, orchestra, piano, dance and various visual arts classes.

STEM initiatives begin as early as kindergarten. Inside the Academy’s Jane Gisevius Leadership Center is a SmartLab learning environment that enables students to explore science, technology, engineering, arts and math through student-led, project-based learning.

The Academy develops leaders of confidence and compassion and prepares them for life in a global society. From the first female law professor at Loyola University New Orleans to a U.S. Senator and a U.S. Army colonel, Ursuline women lead fearlessly. This 2022-2023 school year, Ursuline is proud to welcome the incoming 8th grade class, which will be making HERstory as the Academy’s 300th graduating class. This is a milestone that is unsurpassed in our country.

At Ursuline, students blaze their own trails—it’s the school’s legacy. Make it yours, too.
